- Ask for board certification, in Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery, Dermatological Plastic Surgery. Certification in Family Practice, Ob/Gyn, General Surgery might stimulate more research.
- Ask about hospital affiliations, and does the surgeon have hospital privileges to do the procedure you want?
- How long has he/ she been doing the procedure you want? Remember, brand new technologies will effect these answers.
- Facilitate the physical exam by wearing clothes that permit access to what needs to be seen. Bring a friend or spouse to make you more comfortable and remember more.
- Be prepared to be specific about your expectations, down time available, and how much help you will need after the procedure.
- Navigate my home page, to "Prepare for your Consult" and that will help also.

Finding the right Doctor
My approach to the art and science of cosmetic enhancement is to understand the individual and visualize the desired results in relation to his or her self-image, self-esteem and life experiences. Then, as we jointly discuss the steps, stages and alternatives, I think in terms of progression of choices, beginning with the simple, healthy and minimally invasive. Subsequently, I consider more involved lifestyle and surgical enhancements.
